Costpoint, a COTS product from Deltek, is the most popular cost accounting system that is used by the US government contractors. Costpoint is a posted accounting system type - all cost transactions are preserved and auditable. Beside using user interface screens to enter data, Costpoint provides utilities (called preprocessors) to batch import data. For example, Costpoint provides timesheet, purchase order, account payable etc. to import data into the backend database.
As of Nov 2008, Costpoint does not have preprocessor to import Reference data. InDyne developed a custom DNN module to automate reference data import. This module works with MS SQL database.
