The SmartCard SSO rewrite is nearing the end of the testing phase and there are several packing issues being worked through.  Now is a good time to talk about what all has happened during this rewrite.

SSO and Smart Card SSO are two separate and unrelated products.  While they purport to do generally the same thing, Smart Card SSO was purpose built along a separate track.

Smart Card SSO is a robust Single Sign-on pseudo module for PIMS that uses either Username/password or smart-card (CAC) authentication.

Goals for the rewrite include:

- Leverage CFCs

- Reduce dependence on the application scope

- Remove the occasional lock conflicts that exist because of application scope misuse

- Clean-up the code!

Smart Card SSO currently includes an Alerts Heads-up Display for just-in-time advisories such as missing time sheet entries, overdue training, PRs in your queue, and so on.  The Alerts are not in the current version posted in Issue Tracker, but will be when the rewrite passes testing.
